All of my memories relating to food go back to my grandmother, lovingly remembered as Grandma Cha Cha. I was always by her side at the stove learning how to create the most wonderful smells and flavors. Thinking about it still makes my mouth water. She knew how to take the simplest items and turn them into the tastiest delights.
What I am doing here is putting these memories on paper to share with everyone who has an interest. I want to share what it was like to grow up in an Italian neighborhood. I want to share a part of me.
Scattered about my house are copies of recipes that grandma hand wrote to share with me along with VERY old cookbooks withe dog eared pages marking her favorite items. Starting this around the holidays refreshes memories of wine biscuits for dunking in coffee, handmade cavatti, rich spaghetti gravy. Memories of visiting my best friend's family on Christmas Eve and finding platters of all kinds of fish, spaghetti aglio olio, fresh made italian bread all served with wonderful varietals of wine.
Sit back and enjoy reading the stories and recipes.
